This document outlines the commercial requirements which have driven the technical MHP specifications. A062 covers such issues as the concept of a horizontal market, open APIs, etc.
The definitive guide to the legal and conformance arrangements surrounding the MHP specification, the MHP logo, etc.
This document is the result of clarifications, reflecting the experience of conformance testing and licensing, to the DVB Blue Book A066 rev. 1, MHP Implementation Contracts and other arrangements. It also makes more widely available the text of a form of notice used in the application of the DVB’s IPR policy.
PVR/PDR/DVR Extensions to GEM and MHP
This PowerPoint slideshow gives an explanation of the
background to the new specifications and an overview of what they
contain. Both specifications have now been published by ETSI and are available for download below.
The digital recording extension to Globally Executable MHP (GEM) was jointly developed by DVB members and CableLabs
participants to be a "common core" between MHP and OCAP. It defines the
basic behaviour for a digital TV recording and playback engine. It
defines basic APIs to control that engine including scheduling,
managing and playing back recordings.
The PVR/PDR extension to the multimedia home platform extends the digital recording extension to GEM with integration into a DVB environment. It includes specifying the content to be recorded based on DVB-SI concepts. It includes an API to TVAnytime content referencing and metadata and the integration of that with recording and playback.
